Ched Myers: Recollecting Faith, Restorative Discipleship
Ched gave this keynote talk on the fiftieth anniversary of the Catholic Committee of Appalachia, an exemplary faith-rooted organizing collaborative. After establishing his “kindredness” with exploited mountain folk, Ched surveys the Jubilee theme in scripture. He then suggests three trajectories of Jubilee faith today:
a) Return to the land for those displaced as socio-ecological re-placement and watershed discipleship/ecclesiology;
b) Release from bondage as sabbath/jubilee economics in our bioregions; and
c) release from debt as decolonizing practices of restorative solidarity with indigenous communities in our places.
