Resources for Advent and Beyond
Last Sunday after Pentecost, 2025
This Sunday is the last one in Year C; after this (and after Thanksgiving) comes the first Sunday in Advent for Year A. It’s been fun (if challenging) to blog weekly from texts and themes in HARP; starting next week we’ll return to blogging twice a month. We hope you continue to find HARP a key resource for doing the important work of reading scripture in our time of so many crises. We still need your partnership in getting word about this book into “seminaries, sanctuaries and streets”; please help us build capacity to heal Affluenza and resist Plutocracy!
Today, we’re highlighting multiple resources, including for Advent.
1. Ched’s CLBSJ conversation last week with Chuck Collins
Here’s the link to a recording of my CLBSJ conversation last week with Chuck Collins, an activist Catholic who is carrying on Jesus’ uncompromising critique of the rich while embracing God’s dream of equity and justice, most recently in his Burned by Billionaires. We highly recommend that you buy and read both books, together, in your study circle, classroom, or church adult ed group. In that spirit, we’re offering a “bundle” deal of both volumes for $50 (our cost) to the first five of you who email Chris (inquiries@bcm-net.org; U.S. only). A great holiday gift that meets this moment!

2. Advent Resources from colleague-friends:
Sarah Holst has created a beautiful Advent Workbook for kids and adults called “We Are Never Alone: A Watershed Discipleship Advent Workbook.” It offers daily coloring pages for Dec 1 to 25, with accompanying Scripture and reflection. Available here as either a physical copy or downloadable PDF. Check out this beautiful resource and share it with family and friends this Advent.
